Mary Ann Young is a multiple award-winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist originally from Tennessee.  As a prolific singer-songwriter, Mary Ann has written a vast array of compositions with styles ranging from worship, ballads, folk rock, pop, classical, as well as songs with an electronica edge.  Her recent composition, "A Great Big World" continues to win international songwriting awards *see Song of the Year recognitions for 2008, 2009, and 2010 as well as Great American Song Contest for 2008 and 2009.  Her powerful song, "THE REASON THAT I SING," continues to be one of her most popular, coming very close to being mentioned in SPIN Magazine where she placed SECOND several months in a row based on popularity votes during an International Contest in 2008-2009.  If Mary Ann had placed first during any ONE of those months, she would have been granted special recognition as an up-and-coming artist in SPIN Magazine.
 
One cannot speak of these songs without mentioning her composition "TO HAVE LOVED AND LOST."  This instrumental - created within the span of just a few hours - continues to touch listeners throughout the world.

At the age of
eight, Mary Ann began her studies in piano, and having an unusually gifted ear for music, began pursuing other instruments not long after. At the age of ten, she began her studies in percussion where she learned how to play a wide variety of percussive instruments. At the age of sixteen, Mary Ann began playing the guitar, which continues to be one of her most favorite instruments to this day.

In a world where life can be extremely difficult for both young and old alike, many have experienced encouragement and healing through Mary Ann Young's music. God is the foundation on which Mary Ann creates her compositions as her spirituality runs deeply through her veins. One will find that love and passion for truth and justice permeate throughout the repertoir
e of this contemporary female composer.

Mary Ann was an invited guest artist on the popular television show, Sacramento & Company on News10 (ABC), and is currently being featured on Women of Substance Radio (Live 365), Indie 104-iRadio LA, The Songwriter's Network, and Spiritcol1 Christian Internet Radio. Mary Ann has also been featured on Woman of Jazz Radio (Gospel Sundays), and Christian Mix Inet.  Mary Ann currently resides in Sacramento, California.
